What causes Scars?
Scars form when your dermis becomes damaged. This thick layer of skin works to form new collagen to fix the damage, however, the collagen will form in a different texture than the surrounding tissue, resulting in a scar.
There are many different types of scars we can treat; short and flat, raised scar tissue, stretched skin and several other pesky markings left from injury. Different types of scars determine how difficult the area will be to treat.
Types of Scars:
Atrophic
These scars look like craters or indentations in the issue of the skin. You can get them from chickenpox, acne surgical procedures and injuries. Once you have an atrophic scar, they typically look the same forever.
Hypertrophic
These scars appear raised and are usually the result of a burn, acne scarring, deep cuts or old piercings. Hypertrophic scars will typically start to get smaller over time.
Keloid Scars
These scars are raised as well, but will enlargen over time. They are created by an overgrowth of scar tissue.
What can treat Scars?
We offer many treatments to minimize your scars. Our Laser Carbon Peel uses light technology to exfoliate and refresh skin. Microneedling causes micro-injuries to the skin to boost collagen and elastin to heal scar tissue. Microdermabrasion will bring new skin cells to the surface of the skin that appears smoother. Blemishes, fine lines and sun damage will significantly decrease with treatment.
